President Rudy Sweisfurth, N7COP , called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm in the SAV meeting room. Rudy welcomed the 31 members.
Rudy introduced the officers and asked for their reports:
Vice President Beetle Bailey, K7GSB, working on making a magnetic loop antennae project – build one or more in near future. Beetle couldn't make it to meeting.
Secretary, Jane Lang AD7NR, Picnic details, Ron P will grill, Mike KK4YB will bring condiments. Members and guests please bring a dish that serves 8. Also bring your own service and eating utensils. Water will be provided. Bring another drink if you don’t care for water. Hope to set up at 10 am. We don't have to be early since our spot is reserved! See you then.
Treasurer Bob Call, K7RWC Bank charges when we deposit cash. 3 cents and 6 cents. No free checking acct for businesses. You can request a membership list from Bob Call. Just email him at Treasurer@gvarc.us. The website contacts page will lead you right to him. 138 members. Club by-laws available from Bob as well.
Club Station Manager and Special Events, Tom Lang, K7VOA reported no special events at this time. He reported on the Christmas Party arrangements. December 1st is deadline to sign up and pay the $20 per person, chicken or pork chop.
KE6EE, Stan– in Fla. Look up on QRZ, in path of hurricane, grateful that his huge towers are intact and has contacts from all over the world.
Education and VE testing --Don Thompson KG7ITK reported the Tech class will start January 10th – 5 Thursdays for 5 weeks and 6th week for testing. They have 18 signed up. Will meet at the Sahuarita LDS Church. Don is asking for a radio club presentation to others so they may be interested in the class. No action.
Website Manager, Jon Otto, AD7GS reported 600 plus hits - mostly new people- on our website from all over the world. Link to Anamax Park is on website. Some emails bounced and if yours, please contact Jon or Rudy. Contacts page has all sorts of information. GVARC.US.
Technical Director Ron Phillips, AA7RP Installed a Remote power switch on the mountain for the .29 and .27 link. It was down a bit so they are going up on the mountain again.
Emergency Communications Coordinator Norm Kibby, W5UJ not present.
Program Director Tom Smith K7AFA Battleship Missouri at Oahu KH6BB is available by appointment to use the original radio on the ship.
Drive Out Co-ordinator, Linda Boeck KF7UGO-xyl. Linda was away. The U of A Mirrors lab tour is in November 16th and an email will be sent.
Rudy asked for old and new business. None.
Program: Earl N01SB, Bruce AF7L, Tom K7AFA presented different modes of digital radio programs including Fusion System, D-Star, P25 Phase1 and DMR. It was an etertaining and informative program. Thank you Club Members.
Rudy gave out 5 door prizes.
