GVARC Meeting Minutes, March 14, 2018

President Dale Lang, AA1SZ, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm in the SAV meeting room. Dale welcomed the 34 members. Access through the SAV door requires someone opening the door from the inside. If anyone would like to be the door opener, please let Dale know. Also if you come after 7 when the meeting has started, you will need to call one of the members inside so they can come and open the door for you.

Dale called on the officers for their reports:

Vice President Rudy Sweisfurth, N7COP, has facilitated used equipment inquiries.

Secretary, Jane Lang AD7NR, reported the Tuesday April 5th picnic is taking shape. Ron AA7RP will cook, K7ADT Jim and Inge will bring water, Kathy Kibby will provide paper goods Ė plate settings etc., Mike KK4YB will bring the condiments. All others please bring a dish for 8 and if you want a drink other than water, please bring it yourself. We still need someone to go early to Madera Canyon picnic area and reserve it. If you are willing Ė please call Dale or Jane. We are looking forward to a good gathering.

Treasurer Bob Call, K7RWC was away. Dale reported the finances.

Club Station Manager and Special Events, Tom Lang, K7VOA, reported on his and AA7RP's trip up the mountain to investigate the Winnsystem. Seems the insomniac net has the transmitter heating up so it shuts down. Ron will alleviate this stress by turning repeater at night.

Website Manager, Jon Otto, AD7GS, reported that March 6, had 60 contacts. There were contacts every day from many countries, USA and others. Also if anyone would like to take quality pictures of the events, we would be most grateful. Pictures are in the past events section of Website GVARC.US

Emergency Communications Coordinator Norm Kibby, W5UJ was away.

Program Director Cliff Philip, N2CDP, introduced the speaker, our member, Roger Johnson, K5IP. Roger gave an informative talk on Magnetic loop antennas, and it gave joy to those who love radio information. He brought 2 examples that he has made and used. Roger's talk had some fun stories.
